How A Cue Stick Is Made
If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Pool Billiards, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Pool Billiards.
The most essential piece of equipment for the game of pool is the cue stick, or simply the cue. It is a tapered stick typically 58 inches long and ranging between 18 and 21 ounces. They are primarily made of wood, but occasionally covered with other materials such as graphite or fiberglass. The length and weight can be altered to create a custom cue for the professional player.
There are three different types of cue sticks. One type is the one piece cue. These are generally for the casual player and often stocked in pool halls. They have a uniform taper and standard length and weight. Another type is the two piece cue. This is usually divided in the middle and screwed together. The two piece cue makes for easy transport and storage in a case. The third type is also a two piece cue, but the joint is not in the middle, but further down on the butt, about 1/3 from the end.
There are different parts or pieces to a cue stick, all of which you should become familiar with. The shaft is the smaller, tapered end of the cue, and the butt is the wider, heavier end. When using a two piece cue, the pieces are attached at a joint which is made up of a screw coming from the butt that is screwed into the shaft. The joints can be made from an array of materials from plastic, wood or aluminum to bone or antlers for more expensive sticks. It serves the same purpose, to join the tow pieces together.
On the shaft, you will find the ferrule and the tip. The ferrule is the piece of white plastic immediately below the tip. It can be made of different materials. Most commonly it is plastic for the casual player and brass for the more experienced player. The tips come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and can be custom rounded to suit your needs. Tips are primarily made of leather and are available in different hardness grades.
Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to Pool Billiards than you may have first thought.
The butt of the cue is where you will find your weight. Whether you play with an 18 oz. cue or a 21 oz. cue, the weight is all in the butt. The cue butt is often the area that is most ornate. Many sticks have carvings, leather grips and various other inlaid objects that appeal to the eye. They add nothing to your game but a sense of pride when you pull out your dazzling cue and start a game.
Lastly, and often the most overlooked piece of a pool cue is the bumper. This is a round rubber piece attached to the butt. It offers protection when you place your cue down and also reduced the vibrations that travel through the cue on impact. On pricier cues, the bumper is made of leather.
Choose a cue that is comfortable to play with, not for it’s looks. You want quality, not a show piece.
There’s a lot to understand about Pool Billiards. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

High Heels, High Hopes, and the Role of Fashion Design Schools
The fashion world has long been filled with glitz and glamour. The ramp for models is always long, dramatic, and well-lighted. The walk is certainly a walk for fame, fortunately for aspirants but sometimes leading to a walk for shame. Who is behind all these promises and/or even breakdowns? No less than the fashion designers.
What, exactly, does a fashion designer do?
Basically, with streaks of talent, creativity, and sensitivity, fashion designers, as if influenced by Rumpelstiltskin, craft accessory and clothing sketches. They usually concentrate in one nature of accessory or garment such as women’s or men’s apparels, swimwear, lingerie, children’s garments, handbags, and even shoes. They, sometimes, lead the groundwork of the creation and promotion of their creations.
Famous fashion designers prefer to be self-employed and they cater for the request of their clients. Some cater to high-fashion department stores or to specialty stores. They establish fashion statements by setting the colors, silhouette, and type of materials that are worn each season.
There are also some designers who are employed by manufacturers of clothes. These designers just adapt fashion statements set by other designers for the market. However, there are small manufacturers who just purchase or copy designs.
Both designers sketch unique garments and follow certain trends in fashion. Likewise, both need assistants who should get used to the fast-paced schedule of the fashion business.
In detail, these designers execute the following tasks:
? Draw their unique designs.
? Create patterns for sample garments.
? Choose textile and add-ons (accessories).
? Apply tailoring and basic dressmaking principles along with draping techniques and flat pattern works.
? Fit and alter the completed product, if necessary.
? Set-up a fashion show.
? Compare the performance of the merchandise against the competitors.
? Keep self up-to-date of latest fashion trends thru magazines and other fashion shows.
? Have frequent trips to fabric showrooms to keep self updated of latest type of fabrics.
Actually, fashion designers can be categorized as follows:
1. Lead or Head Designers
They take care of the executive and creative tasks.
If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.
2. Assistant or Apprentice Designers
They usually make patterns and sample garments. They may also teach sample makers how to make patterns and designer garments.
3. Specialty Designers
They coordinate with other designers about special lines of garments.
4. Costume or Theatrical Designers
They usually create costumes used in theater and movie productions on a contractual basis.
The foundations for their creations are their knowledge, skills, and abilities honed in fashion schools and trainings in the long run.
? Basic Design ? This refers to technical know-how included in the creation and use of technical blueprints, drawings, plans, and models.
? Idea Production ? This is the ability of designers to approach problems creatively and resourcefully.
? Dynamic Learning ? This is being able to analyze implications of new information and materials at hand.
? Operations Scrutiny ? This is considering requirements of products to execute a design.
? Uniqueness ? This pertains to unusual cleverness vis-à-vis trying situations.
? Harmonization ? This is being able to having good coordination with others.
? Visioning ? This is being able to see how an organization works under real conditions.
The talents and skills of these artists are really important in the fashion industry. The work requires an eye for a striking creation and business management. Thus, aside from the portfolio of their usually creations, formal education help these designers acquire the secrets of the trade in this business. In fact, graduation from a college or school that provides training on fashion and design is highly recommended in the industry, to keep incoming designers updated on the advent of new techniques and technologies.
However, some leaders of this industry view vocational training schools and community college as more capable of producing competent artists because these institutions work along with clothing industries.
Vocational schools provide trainings in sketching, draping and grading, pattern making, garment construction, textiles and trimmings, costume history, principles of design and color; and how to plan and market seasonal fashion lines.
High school students inclined in fashion and design should finish basic courses in arts, sewing, mathematics, speech, English, and business.
Usually, vocational institutions provide a two-leveled program with certificate that is consonant to the degree in Associate of Arts. For those who want to enter the fashion field immediately, a first level certificate of proficiency is provided. The next level of proficiency, the second-level requires a greater time of completion. But upon graduation, artists are considered competent enough to aim for positions as Assistant Designers. After all the necessary formal trainings and specializations, those who have the guts and high hopes spin gold fabrics!
Is there really any information about Fashion School that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.

Illnesses That Can Cause a Sleep Disorder
Many times a sleep disorder can be caused from an illness or from the medications used to treat an illness. Some of the common health conditions that can cause a sleeping problem are cardiovascular disease, endocrine disorders, neurological disorders, respiratory disease, mental illness, gastroesophageal reflux disease, kidney disease, and arthritis.
Cardiovascular disease includes congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. These are the two most common heart problems that affect sleep and can cause a sleep disorder. Congestive heart failure occurs when the heart can no longer pump enough blood fo the body’s needs. Blood backs up in the veins of the heart which lead to the kidneys and edema eventually damages the lungs and other organs. People suffering from congestive heart failure have a very high risk of developing the sleep disorder of obstructive sleep apnea. Coronary heart disease is the build up of fatty deposits in the arteries that supply blood to the heart, called atherosclerosis. This condition also can lead to obstructive sleep apnea.
Sleep disorders can occur from endocrine disorders such as diabetes and thyroid disease. Diabetes is a disease that affects the way the body processes and uses carbohydrates, fats and proteins. People that have uncontrolled diabetes often develop the sleep disorder of restless leg syndrome. Thyroid hormones regulate the body’s energy levels. Hyperthyroidism can make it difficult to fall asleep, and cause night sweats the person to wake.
Neurological disorders include Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and strokes. Parkinson’s disease is a central nervous system disorder. This disease causes problems with body motion, including tremors, unstable posture, slowed body movements, muscle stiffness, and difficulty walking. Sleep disorders that occur with this disease include REM sleep behavior disorder and sleep onset insomnia. Alzheimer’s disease impairs the brain’s intellectual functions and is the most common cause of dementia. This disease causes sleep fragmentation. Epilepsy causes recurrent, sudden, brief changes in the normal electrical activity of the brain. People with this condition are twice as likely to suffer from the sleep disorder insomnia. People that suffer a stroke usually also have obstructive sleep apnea.
People that have respiratory diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,
usually also have a sleep disorder. Asthma is a chronic lung condition that makes breathing difficult when air passages become inflamed and narrow. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, known as COPD, refers to a group of disorders that damage the lungs and make breathing difficult. Many people with these conditions suffer from insomnia and sleep fragmentation.
How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.
Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and seasonal affective disorder can also lead to a sleep disorder. People with these mental health disorders often suffer from sleep fragmentation and insomnia.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, known as GERD, causes the stomach’s juices to flow backwards into the esophagus. This causes the sleep disorder of sleep fragmentation.
Kidney disease causes the kidneys to lose their ability to filter the proper amount of waste products from the blood and regulate the body’s balance of salt and water. This can cause the sleep disorders of restless leg syndrome and insomnia to develop.
People with arthritis often find it difficult to fall asleep because of the pain. This often results in insomnia.
If an illness causes a sleep disorder to develop, the sleep disorder is secondary to the illness. Successful treatment of the primary underlying cause will usually diminish the effects of the sleep disorder.
That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Why Use Chalk Playing Pool?
So what is Pool Billiards really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about Pool Billiards–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.
There are two types of chalk used during play. One is applied to the cue tip. The other is rubbed onto the players palm. Both forms of chalking aid the players’ game, and both serve different purposes.
We’ll start with the question of why players chalk their cue tips so often. If you are a beginner, you will quickly learn how and when to use chalk. The primary function of chalking the cue tip is to prevent a miscue by the tip sliding off the ball. You will notice that most players will use chalk before every shot. On some occasions, more chalk will be applied if the shot being made requires English or some other type of spin. The application of the chalk will aid in your initial contact with the cue ball and will help to prevent you from making a bad shot. This commonly seen little cube of chalk will become your best friend as you progress as a player. Cue tip chalk is made by crushing silica and the abrasive substance corundum or aloxite into a powder and using forced air to achieve the desired consistency. It is combined with dye (originally and most commonly green or blue-green) and a binder (glue).
Finally, hydraulic press is used to compress the “chalk” into large cakes which are dried on a rack, and then cut into small cubes, dimpled on the top to receive the cue tip, and wrapped in paper sleeves. Each manufacturer’s brand has different qualities, which can significantly affect play. High humidity can also impair the effectiveness of chalk. Harder, drier compounds are generally considered superior by most players.
If you don’t have accurate details regarding Pool Billiards, then you might make a bad choice on the subject. Don’t let that happen: keep reading.
The other type of chalk is applies to the hands. This is not seen as often, unless you are playing at an experienced or professional level. Many casual players opt to play bare hand without applying chalk or using grip gloves. Hand chalk can be used to reduce friction between the cue and bridge hand during shooting, for a smoother stroke. Some brands of hand chalk actually are made of compressed talc. Hand chalk comes in two forms - as a solid and in powdery talc form. The cone-shaped chalk shown below is a popular style seen in many bars and pool halls. The portion of the bridge hand that contacts the cue shaft is rubbed across the cone and the chalk transfers to the hand. The use of hand chalk or talc is entirely up to the player. Where cue tip chalk must be used, hand chalk is totally optional.
Chalking your cue tip is essential to playing the game and maintaining control over your shots. Don’t ever overlook the step of chalking up before a shot. You will find that if this is omitted, the majority of your shots will be miscues and your accuracy will suffer. Hand chalk is a personal preference. Many professional players prefer to use a slick pool glove over hand chalk or talc because of the messiness of the powders. Another way to avoid use of hand chalk is to simply use a hand towel. All three of these things serve the same purpose. The drier your hands are, the better control you will have over your cue stick.
Those who only know one or two facts about Pool Billiards can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here.

London Design Updates: Bridge May Tremble But Not Fashion Schools
Have you ever heard a brave forecast such as this?
Now on a lighter note, consider this: Ramps are more dramatic than bridges. How come? This is because ramps have provided the world with classic items of Burberry to more liberal creations of Jimmy Choo. And these ramps were made sturdy primarily by London fashion design schools. Top fashion designers like Clements Ribeiro, Alexander McQueen, and Sophia Kokosalaki would agree just the same.
What makes it great about earning a degree from a fashion design school in London?
London lies in the central part of England. This is one of the busiest cities in the world. It has taken part in many revolutions. The well known of these revolutions is the so-called the Industrial Revolution.
As years went by, London, during the 19th century, received the spotlight for men’s fashion statements under the headship of dandies of Regency including Beau Brummell. Not so long after, around the mid of1960s, London was, once more, for a moment the heart of fashion statements and influence.
London nowadays also lies in the heart of the fashion industry. The same city that has revolutionized many aspects and statements in the fashion industry years ago is the same city that continues a legacy for styles and prevailing modes of life. The key now lies to the competent trainings designers undergo in various fashion institutions and even in the marketplace.
In fact, whatever you want to earn: a specialist course, a fashion school certificate, or a university degree, you will definitely find a school in London that can give you the edge and the guts to get along well with other topnotch designers. Moreover, though there are a thousand of schools all around the world, it is a fact that the UK retail garment market provides training opportunities for high-end fashion, mass market, and even Asian imports. In fact, the market shares a projected $ 50-billion sale, 75% of which account for women’s and children’s clothing.
If you want to immediately run for a job-entry, a summer program or a year at a London fashion school can provide you with fashion skills that are already in the entry-level. If you are still on a shaky ground, consider enrolling in some international schools with campuses in London.
Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.
The following lists of schools have links that will provide other information about some schools in UK:
1. The Royal College of Arts is a school of textiles and fashion (http://www.rca.ac.uk/ UK).
2. London College of Fashion is an international institution for technology, design, sales and administration in the textile, accessories, footwear, and fashion industries (http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/).

You can say that a London fashion degree is a passport recognized by the world and its diverse fashions. History, indeed, repeats itself.

When to Use a Certified Public Accountant
Imagine the next time you join a discussion about Accountancy. When you start sharing the fascinating Accountancy facts below, your friends will be absolutely amazed.
A Certified Public Accountant, or CPA, can help you make sure that your small business accounting or individual taxes are accurate and complete. Some businesses are small enough, such as home based businesses, that a Certified Public Accountant is not needed for most accounting tasks. However, there are times when a business or individual should use a Certified Public Accountant.
If you have a small business, and you have discovered that an error in your bookkeeping exists, it can often be difficult to locate where and when the error was made to correct the mistake. A Certified Public Accountant has special training and education to find these errors through an external audit process. It is vital that these errors be corrected, because the books you use in your business are used to determine taxes and business decisions.
These records also allow investors to see how well your business is doing so that you can get more backing to help your business grow. A Certified Public Accountant can find and correct any errors in your bookkeeping, and help you organize your bookkeeping so that you or the Certified Public Accountant can easily generate financial statements and reports. These financial statements and reports prepared by a Certified Public Accountant are the documents that most banks and investors want to see before making any financing decisions.
You can see that there’s practical value in learning more about Accountancy. Can you think of ways to apply what’s been covered so far?
If you are starting up a home based or small business, you should seek the guidance of a Certified Public Accountant. The Certified Public Accountant can help you set up a double entry method of accounting with a journal and ledger, as well as a chart of accounts to help you use these tools effectively in your business. The Certified Public Accountant can also advise you as to what taxes you will be responsible for paying throughout the year. Quarterly taxes are often required of businesses and self-employed individuals. To avoid penalties, late fees, and a large tax bill at the end of the year, you should contact a Certified Public Accountant for this information.
Any individual that is self-employed should seek out the services of a Certified Public Accountant when it is time for tax return preparation. Tax laws change every year, and a Certified Public Accountant can help you make sure that you are receiving all of the deductions you have available as a self-employed individual.
Any individual with children, who is separated or newly divorced, or who may wish to itemize deductions based on mortgages, medical expenses, and charitable contributions should also seek out a Certified Public Accountant for assistance in income tax preparation. This is because the tax laws are very complex, and change often. If you make a mistake and claim a deduction that you could not legally claim, the IRS may audit your return and cause you to pay back the refund amount, with penalties. Additionally, if you make a mistake and do not claim a deduction that you could legally claim, the IRS will not attempt to correct the mistake, causing you to receive a smaller refund. Either way, you lose money. The best way to avoid these and other errors is to have a Certified Public Accountant prepare your income tax return.
I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing–the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

All About Charities
Many people donate to charities in order to take advantage of income tax deductions at the end of the year. However, it is important to understand what charities are eligible for these income tax deductions so that you do not miss out on any income tax deductions that you can take. It is also important to have a knowledge of what documentations you need to have in order to take the income tax deductions from your donations to charitites.
Charities can include things such as school fundraisers, church fundraisers, thrift store donations, donations to homeless shelters, donations to food assistance programs such as Harvesters, and donations to other charities such as hospital programs and women’s shelters all qualify as charities for the purpose of income tax deductions. However, there is documentation you need in order to legally claim donations to these charities as income tax deductions.
Purchases from school fundraisers are usually accompanied by some type of receipt or packing slip. Use this documentation to claim your income tax deduction for these charities. Purchases and contributions to church fundraisers do not typically come with any form of receipt, even though that receipt is necessary in order to claim the donation to the charities as a legal income tax deduction. Your best bet is to ask the church charities to provide you with some type of written record, even on a piece of regular notebook paper, indicated the amount of the donation. If your donation to these charities is in the form of property or items rather than money, you can estimate the reasonable value of the item and include that on the receipts from the charities. This ensures that you have a reasonable and provable amount to deduct from the donations to the charities for your income tax return.
It’s really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Accountancy. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.
Other types of charities typically provide receipts for donations to the charities. If you donate items or property such as clothing, furniture, vehicles, toys, or food you can estimate the value of the donation and receive a receipt from the charities based on that amount that also lists what items were donated, then use that receipt for your income tax deduction. If you purchase something new to donate, you can keep your purchase receipt signed by someone from the charities, and use that as a record of your contribution for your income tax deduction.
Charities can always use your help. Deductions from charities does not get you any extra money on your income tax return above and beyond what you spend. However, these charities can use your valuable help, and with income tax deductions for contributions to charities, you get everything you pay or give to the charities back on your income tax return. So in short, you can give your help to the different charities without it costing you a dime! No risk, you help others, and you aren’t out any money. It’s a win-win situation for you and for the charities!
Donate to your favorite charity today!
